My Camera Gear

I don’t do much gear posting, I do not believe I have ever post what I use, so below is a list of what I use or have.

  • Nikon D3200 my first DSLR I bought in 2013 as a refurbished.
  • Nikon D7100 my second camera I purchased in 2015 as a refurbished.
  • Nikon D800 last December I made the jump to full frame used online camera store in Montana.
  • Nikon 28mm prime
  • Nikon 50mm prime
  • Tokina 28-70 Full Frame my go to lens at the moment
  • Tokina 11-16 DX used on the D7100 for superwide landscapes.
  • Nikon DX 18-55 kit lens used quite often on D7100.
  • Nikon DX 55-300 for getting close to distant landscapes.
  • Sigma 55-500mm used on the D7100, considering letting this one go as I seldom use or need in woodlands.
  • Vangard Tripod which I have used and carry with me everywhere
One of my first captures with the D800

I have an L-Bracket on the D800, an invaluable tool for quick changing from landscape to portrait mode with little fiddling with the ball-head. If you buy one accessory this is one I highly recommend if you use a tripod a lot.

My camera bag is my 2016 Subaru Crosstrek for the most part. I do have a bag and store my filters and less used lens in. The 7100 and 800 usually sit in my vehicle at the ready. Too many people buy equipment and baby them. I see a camera as a tool no different than a hammer or screwdrive. Tools are meant to be used but that does not mean abuse them. Some may thing leaving a camera in a vehicle is abuse or neglect but they are much stronger than people give them credit for. What good is it spending thousands on gear to photograph with if you are in constant fear of breaking them?

That pretty much sums up my main used equipment in my photography.
