First Snowfall of the season

First Snowfall of the season

For the most part this Christmas was pretty black around here in NE Iowa.  Yesterday brought a nice blanket of 4″ of powder the bad part was it was followed by sub-zero temperatures but I still managed to get out to a favorite barn of mine that stands alone in a field.  Thought it made a nice winter scene.

Led Lightbox

Led Lightbox

I worked on this lightbox the last two days.  The picture is a 16 x 20 acrylic print I bought from canvas discount.  The frame I picked up for a dollar at a flea market.  Saved the glass as it was not needed for this project.  The box is out of pine 1 x 2″ build behind the frame and glued together.  The back is mahogany underlayment ith the inside covered in furnace aluminum tape.

The lighting is 12v LED strip light, 3 rows running 16″ vertical.  I painted the frame in flat black and am quite happy how it turned out.

Friday Night Lights

Friday Night Lights

Been having a great time doing some sunset photography as of late with the colder weather the local water holes have glazed over with a nice layer of ice lacking snow so far.  The reflection patterns have been spectacular off the ice.  Some of my best sunset shots I have been able to witness and capture.
