Last Summer

Last Summer

I had a fever last night from a bug I picked up someplace but when I woke up this morning my fever was gone but I decided not to share at work.  I saw the sky was lightly decorated with clouds and decided to venture out to take my last summer sunrise shot for months to come.  This was the spot on a hillside in SE Butler county.  Fall comes at 3:02 this afternoon and I was glad to see summers last sunrise.

My Most Popular Post So Far

My Most Popular Post So Far

Sharing on social media takes a lot of effort to be seen and persistence to get noticed.  Today persistence paid off as the image below was shared to Instagram and tagged with the country_features hash tag.  The image was noticed by an admin for the group @country_features and it took off from there after she featured it.  The group is large with 75k following.  So far after the feature at 11am it has garnered 1350 likes.  Another humbling experience for me to watch this happen.

An Early Autumn

An Early Autumn

It appears as though Autumn is making an early showing this year.  Most likely because of the extreme dry August.  The following pictures are from Mallory Park this morning south of Hampton Iowa.  Time to make plans for my fall picture taking.  Seems like this season came from my blind side.  In a month leaves will be mostly gone.

Bully

Bully

Just loved the way this picture of a bullfrog turned out.  I have a Koi pond in my back yard and this year we have had 4 resident bulls.  This one has become quite accustomed to people and will not jump until a three foot space is breached.  I especially like the duck weed clinging to his face.

3 Weeks Later

3 Weeks Later

Here I am three weeks later and I am still processing and uploading images from my Eclipse trip last month.  The Badlands images I took have me really driven to return next May when things are much greener, should be interesting photo’s until then here are a couple more I finished today.

Signs of Iowan Autumn

Signs of Iowan Autumn

It seems like it all happened overnight, the soybean fields have turned rapidly the past week to a sea of yellows and greens.  It will be a couple of weeks before harvest will start in my area but for the time being I am enjoying seeing these short lived colors on the Iowa landscape.

Landscape Pro 2

Landscape Pro 2

I made another software purchase and love the way bland sky images can be turned into a work of art.  This image originally had no clouds as mornings in the Badlands of South Dakota during summer can be clear.  I processed this through Landscape Pro and created this image with it.  I won’t use it all the time but it will come in handy when images need more than nature provided during capture.
