When do you become or call yourself professional?

When do you become or call yourself professional?

When do you become or call yourself professional?  My best answer to this question is, when people call you this, when they recognize your work as such, other professions (non photography or art) take notice of your body of work and help promote it.  I have felt the quality and level of my work has stepped up since fall from where it used to be.  I have been published twice since fall in Our Iowa magazine.

Nothing compares to a comment I received this morning on Fine Art America.  This was extremely nice of them to say this and it meant alot when I read it.  It was on the image below that caught their I and compelled them to comment.

Bonfire: This is our first visit to your art. In short; FANTASTIC
WORKS !!!! We love this “Storm Over Birch Barn 2” image. The clarity
of the details are amazing. The colors are gorgeous. A sharp eye will
even notice the clearing of the sky in the distance. This is the work
of a “truly professional” photographer in our opinions. VERY well done
