Dual Sun Sunrise

Dual Sun Sunrise

This past week has been way above normal temperatures and most of the snow melted this past week.  On my drive over to The Big Marsh I passed over this tributary that runs into the marsh and made this image of the sunrise cutting through the fog and reflecting off the surface of the water.  Made a cool image with a bit of mystery.

The Beauty Of Winter

The Beauty Of Winter

I am late posting this and it is one of my favorite winter shots of the season.  Not too far from Alta Vista I was crossing a bridge and when I looked to the west I beheld a beautiful Iowa farm scene.  I hit the brakes fast and backed up until I was on the bridge, after making sure no traffic was coming either way, and stood on the bridge and took this HDR image of this farm.

I loved the look of this scene with the river slowly flowing in the front of the farm site and the red barn and out buildings made the whole image pop.  A beautiful farm, well taken care of and the owner can be proud of how well it looks.  The image was well received on Iowa Through the Lens on Facebook and Travel Iowa also picked it up on Instagram and shared it.  One of the family members saw it on Instagram and I was happy they got to view it.

Twin Springs

Twin Springs

Took a drive yesterday and decided to go up to Decorah and visit a couple of my favorite spots to photograph.  The cover photo is of Twin Springs located on the far western side of town.  The water flows here year round and this was my first visit using HDR photography.  The walk was quite treacherous as the snow melt had turned the path into ice.  I really like how this shot turned out and love the little bits of green peeking through in spots.
